Moments that Mattered

I'm a little late to this party.
(I've been ill, i've got an excuse...)

One of my favourite bloggers, Georgina, is hosting a competition to win an iPad mini. Yes, you heard me. Thanks to Lloyds bank, you could win an iPad mini. All you have to do is write a post about moments that mattered to you in 2013, and in traditional me style, I left it until the day of the deadline (it only runs until midnight tonight!)

So, what happened to me in 2013 that mattered?
As this is my blog, I should probably start with blogging right?

In the summer last year, I started writing some posts on my blog, which was really big for me.
They were terrible. There was about one picture in all of them. I didn't really get into blogging, and when I decided to have another go, I reverted them all back to drafts. Thank goodness.

Have you guessed what mattered about that to me?
I tried again.
I've always been one of those people that everyone gets annoyed at because they have one try and give up.
This was different for me, because I knew it was what I wanted to do.
I understand now, that I will never be the best blogger out there, and there will always be more things to learn, and that's a good thing. I also now know it's okay not to have 8954589047585 followers. I am absolutely grateful for the followers I do have, and not to sound cheesy, but every new follower and every comment I gain, is a moment that matters to me. Okay. A little cheesy.

In May last year, me and my boyfriend celebrated our one year anniversary. I guess it doesn't really need to be explained why that moment mattered, but he definitely is very special to me. It seems so strange that we only celebrated our one year anniversary this year, it seems we've been together so much longer. In a good way. I definitely meant that in a good way...

cheeky insta photo.

In 2013, I also become more independent.
In early 2013, I made the decision to leave sixth form after I sat my AS exams in May. It was harder for me to make the decision when I did, because my friends that didn't carry on into sixth form, all left at the same time, and none of my sixth form friends were doing anything similar when I decided to leave. Gah change is hard.

So after a summer of working full-time, yet managing to save a total of £0 because of my obsession for anything that says SALE, 3 for 2 or BOGOF, I decided to apply at the local college to study Creative Media Production. The one subject I hated at GCSE. Am I seriously an idiot?
No. I am not. The course is great, and the people are too.

This picture was taken one of the first weeks of college (I think. My memory is bad)

These guys never fail to make me laugh and I will cherish their friendships for a looooooooong time.

Yeah.
Still more cheese.

Under the same umbrella of independence, I booked a holiday away with my boyfriend this summer coming, without parents. Woohoo. Lots of excitement, and not telling parents just how nervous we are. Sorry, did you say we were meant to be adults?
I also made the decision to move out of the house in which I was 'born and raised' to quote the Fresh Prince himself. Although the moving is happening in 2014, the decision came in 2013 so it counts, right? (I'm counting it anyway.. lalalala)
More trying to be adult and still being really nervous. Oops.

Now after all the cheesiness, I'm going to be a bit of a Debbie Downer.
Just before Christmas, my auntie went into hospital with a very serious stroke. It wasn't good, but she is making progress. She has always been a very big part of my life, and it made me realise how important family is. She is such a very special lady, and although it wasn't, and still isn't, a great time, it has really brought our family together. She inspires me every day. It is thanks to her, that I realise anything is possible. I now know that I can do whatever I set my mind to.

Hopefully, this year will be a bit better than how last year ended. This year I hope to create more moments that matter for others. This summer I am looking to do some sort of charity event that can help others. If other bloggers, or anyone really, has any suggestions of events that I could hold, let me know. I'd love to know what you guys think!

This got really long-winded, and kind of off point of the competition,
but I actually quite enjoyed recapping 2013.
Anywho.
How was your 2013?
What moments mattered to you?
And let me know what Charity Events you think would be good!
